About

Hi, my name is Heather.  And this is what I said.

If you don’t have time to start way back here and move forward, let me give you just a few little tidbits about me you may find interesting:

-I’ve lived in Illinois, Wisconsin, Louisiana, Texas, & New York.
-I may always call Madison, Wisconsin home.

-I strive to organize; but thrive in chaos.
-To me, conviction inspires life change.
-I believe in a lot of things, but mostly I believe love wins.
-I use my dictionary as a cookbook, and proof to win most arguements.
-I’ve lost 40lbs the healthy way; good foods and exercise.

-I am determined to be the healthiest version of me. I’m still working on becoming fit and working towards my goal weight, and my fitness milestones.
-Guilty Pleasures: too much red wine, too much TV, & heating my blanket in the dryer before bed.
-I’ve started running races.  I plan to run a race in all 50 states in my lifetime.  So far I’ve conquered 3 states.

-I often like to think I am “in control” and that I “have it all together.”
-I am rarely “in control” or “have it all together.”
-I want to try new things, meet new people, and visit new places.
-Oh, and I snore.

Don’t ask yourself what the world needs;
ask yourself what makes you come alive.
And then go and do that.
Because what the world needs is people who have come alive.
-Harold Thurman

    Heather,
I am a licensed mental health counselor and have had the honor of walking with many people through their food/weight/body image issues. Research says that dieting is not a long-term solution because almost everyone who loses weight gains it all back – plus more! This is because food and weight issues are much more about our hearts and our stories than calories and fat grams. Until we address these issues of the heart, we cannot fight the body image bandit and win. I am writing a book and blog about the causes and how to address them instead of treating the symptoms only. If we don’t work on the causes of our weight/body issues, it is like cutting off a weed at the top. It looks good for a while, but it always comes back. My latest post is called, “Real Reasons for Food Addiction.” I would love to hear your thoughts. Thanks, Cherrie

    Hi my new Twitter friend!
This is only the 2nd blog I’ve ever commented on in my whole life (the first was my sisters…well, I guess and also mine – but that’s a fairly new endeavor to me as well!) so hopefully I am doing this right! 🙂
Heather, I’m so excited to “back track” and catch up with your life on here as well as watch what unfolds as you move forward. As I said in my Twitter introduction, we have much in common…the midwest thing, the wedding that wasn’t thing and the JC thing (just to name a few I’m sure). One thing I KNOW…we are created with a plan and a purpose. And the things that are in store for us are greater then even we can imagine.
    You’re a total SuperFox. Believe it! 😉

OMG I love your goal of running a race in each state. I might just go ahead and steal that idea and do it up here in Canada. Run a race in each of the provinces (maybe even the way up North Territories).

Congrats on your progress! You look great! I also love your goal to run a marathon in every state; if you ever venture north of the border, I may have to join you. Keep it up, lady; you rock!

    Hi Heather!
I just decided a couple of days ago to run a race in all of the states as well! I’ve only gotten one down so far (NC), but good luck with your journey and congrats on losing 40 pounds!!! I know that it is extremely hard to do it the right way (healthy foods and exercise) but you did it! You go girl 🙂 We need more role models out there like you.
I’m a future dietitian, and I’ve met so many people that want to lose weight, but they want it the FAST way, you know, just a quick fix…but it isn’t done that way. And good for you for realizing that 😀

    Hi, Heather!

I just found your blog from your guest post on Tina’s blog. You are awesome, and I was really moved by your posts about your broken engagements. I, too, was once engaged and am even 2 years later still dealing with some of the fallout from that ending.

Thank you for your awesome blog, and I look forward to reading more! 🙂
