101 in 1001

The first page of my 2009 journal reads “1-1-09: Happy 2009.” It was a new year, I was in a new region, and I just signed a new contract for work. It was all new. And on the third of January, I wrote a list. Apparently,

“Today I read about an awesome idea on a blog. 101 in 1001. make a list of 101 things to do in 1001 days, which is about 2.75 years. Here I go: 101 things to do in 1001 days.”

As you read over my list, it’s important to remember that a few of the items on the list were added at a point in time when plans were made;  dates were set, dresses were purchased & deposits were paid [#2].  Honeymoons discussed, & compromises settled [#1]. I was in a relationship I thought would last forever [#67]. With someone who knew my crazy innocent romance dreams [#63].

All that to say – I don’t care.  101 in 1001 sounds so much better than 97 in 1001.  [& if I manage to cross off all but four of these items before October 2, 2011, I’ll feel pretty damn accomplished.] update: my friend Megan suggested that I cross off the stuff that was on my list in accordance to my previous engagement and wedding plans, and add new things that I want to do.  I agree that this is a great idea. I could totally help you out with a bunch of these–I have an awesome apple pie, pie crust, salsa AND truffle recipe! AND…I’ll have a baby you can push in a stroller by the end of the year! Plus, Audrey Hepburn is my favorite actress, so I would have no problem helping you watch MY Fair Lady… We should get together sometime… 🙂

Yeah, seriously. A week in MN would have half of these crossed off (I am one heck of a kit flyer and my family has a killer fudge recipe. I also draw a mean hopscotch board). I think that you should be able to get rid of the one’s you don’t want to accomplish anymore and replace them with things you do. (why would you keep something on your 101 list that you don’t want to accomplish anymore?)
    For example:
    2. Get married becomes 2. Run a Half Marathon.
    67. Take Michael to Vegas becomes 67. Go on vacation with Megan (London?)

Also, you can cross Jamba off! 🙂

(you know that now that I’m reading your blog I’m going to comment incessantly, right?)

    This list is awesome!

By “Badger game”, I’m assuming you mean Badger football, correct? I can’t say I’ve been to one of those, but I have seen several Badger hockey games. 🙂

Yes! Badger Football is my FAVORITE sporting event EVER. (although, I am generally a fan of most sports – ESPECIALLY when the UW Badgers are involved!) GO, BUCKY!!!!!
